چکیده

We propose a method for characterising the energy level structure of a solid-state qubit by monitoring the noise level in its environment. We consider a model persistent-current qubit in a lossy resevoir and demonstrate that the noise in a classical bias field is a sensitive function of the applied field. In this paper, we propose a novel technique to characterise the energy level structure of a solid state qubit and its spontaneous emission rate into a lossy reservoir. The technique relies on the backreaction of a solid state qubit on its environment and the incoherent transfer of energy from a high frequency mode to a low frequency mode due to the stochastic transitions of the qubit between energy eigenstates. We consider a coupled system consisting of a model qubit and several classical degrees of freedom. The qubit is coupled to two main electromagnetic modes: a low frequency mode (classical bias field) that is used to control the operation of the qubit, and a higher frequency mode that is used to pump the qubit from the ground state to an excited state. In addition, the qubit is assumed to be coupled to a lossy reservoir, which represents the cavity that contains the qubit and control fields. The reservoir provides a mechanism to allow the qubit to dissipate energy and to induce spontaneous decays from an excited state into the ground state. The loss mechanism is modelled using a quantum trajec-tory approach [1,2], corresponding to an unravelling of the Markovian Master

Projective Measurement Scheme for Solid-State Qubits

We present an effective measurement scheme for the solid-state qubits that does not introduce extra decoherence to the qubits until the measurement is switched on by a resonant pulse. The resonant pulse then maximally entangles the qubit with the detector. The scheme has the feature of being projective, noiseless, and switchable. This method is illustrated on the superconducting persistent-curr...

Effect of random telegraph noise on entanglement and nonlocality of a qubit-qutrit system

We study the evolution of entanglement and nonlocality of a non-interacting qubit-qutrit system under the effect of random telegraph noise (RTN) in independent and common environments in Markovian and non-Markovian regimes. We investigate the dynamics of qubit-qutrit system for different initial states. These systems could be existed in far astronomical objects. A monotone decay of the nonlocalit...

A complementarity relation is shown between the visibility of interference and bipartite entanglement in a two qubit interferometric system when the parameters of the quantum operation change for a given input state. The entanglement measure is a decreasing function of the visibility of interference. The implications for quantum computation are briefly discussed.

We construct the exchange gate with small elementary gates on the space of qudits, which consist of three controlled shift gates and three ”reverse” gates. This is a natural extension of the qubit case. We also consider a similar subject on the Fock space, but in this case we meet with some different situation. However we can construct the exchange gate by making use of generalized coherent ope...
